Poliovirus Detected in Karachi, Mirpurkhas Environmental Samples

Islamabad: Polio virus has been confirmed for the first time in the environmental samples of Karachi District South and Mirpurkhas.
According to the authorities, the virus was confirmed in the environmental samples of 10 districts across the country in April last month, including the environmental samples of Kemari district Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro.
According to officials, polio virus was also confirmed in environmental samples from Sukkur and Jacobabad.
Apart from this, poliovirus has been confirmed in environmental samples in Quetta, Chaman, Naseerabad districts.
It should be noted that polio virus has been found in the environmental samples of 33 districts in Pakistan so far this year, two cases of polio have been reported in the country so far this year.
