Police Yet to Protect Journalists Facing Wana Threats

Peshawar: Journalists in Wana, South Waziristan, are facing serious threats following their coverage of recent arrests in extortion cases.
Members of the Wana Press Club reported receiving threatening phone calls, messages, and social media posts from relatives and associates of the detained suspects. Police have confirmed the arrest of two individuals but have yet to provide effective security to the journalists, leaving them vulnerable.
Aurangzeb Mehsud, central president of the Tribal Union of Journalists, urged the government to take immediate notice of the threats. He called for the arrest of those responsible and demanded proper security measures to ensure the safety of journalists working in the region.
