Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the immediate dispatch of two planeloads of relief goods to Gaza and Lebanon, emphasizing the need for both land and aerial routes to facilitate aid supply.
During a meeting on Tuesday to review ongoing relief activities for the regions affected by conflict, he highlighted the importance of coordination with Pakistan’s ambassadors in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt to ensure that assistance reaches those in need.
The Prime Minister called for an accelerated pace in relief efforts, urging that essential supplies such as winter tents, clothing, blankets, medicines, and food items be delivered to those suffering from the ongoing crisis, particularly due to Israeli military actions.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his appeal to citizens and expatriates to contribute generously to the PM Fund for Gaza and Lebanon, providing the IBAN: PK11SBPD000000111111429 for donations. He also instructed relevant authorities to launch an awareness campaign to inform the public about the government-established Relief Fund.
During the briefing on relief operations, officials reported that the Israeli attacks and blockade have severely hindered the supply of essential goods to affected areas. The government also expressed its readiness to support NGOs wishing to send aid to Gaza and Lebanon.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers including Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Attaullah Tarar, as well as Minister of State Shiza Fatima Khawaja, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and senior officials from the Higher Education Commission and the National Disaster Management Authority.
