Pindi Intensifies Anti-Dengue Efforts After 7 New Cases Reported

Rawalpindi: Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema announced that all possible measures are being taken to control dengue, following the reporting of 7 new cases in the district.

During a meeting presided over by Cheema, he emphasized the importance of citizen cooperation with health department teams to prevent the spread of dengue.

He noted that while there has been an increase in dengue cases, the numbers are 50 percent lower compared to the previous year.

Cheema stressed that every citizen must take personal responsibility in the fight against dengue fever.

The meeting, held in the Deputy Commissioner’s office, was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Zanira Aftab, CEO Health Dr Asif, Focal Person for Dengue Dr Ehsan, DDHOs, and other relevant department officers.

Cheema highlighted that with citizen support, dengue could be eradicated permanently. It was decided in the meeting to accelerate surveillance efforts, with a special focus on tire shops, junkyards, open plots, and graveyards.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed that high-risk union councils be cleaned through intensified surveillance and area-wise fogging. The meeting was informed that 7 new cases of dengue have been reported across the district.
