Islamabad: The government has announced a fresh increase in petroleum prices, raising the cost of both petrol and high-speed diesel for the next fortnight.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the new prices will come into effect from 12 midnight on March 1. The decision was taken on the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

Under the revised rates, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 8 per litre. With this hike, petrol, previously available at Rs 258.17 per litre, will now cost Rs 266.17 per litre for the next 15 days.

Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has been raised by Rs 5.16 per litre. Following the increase, high-speed diesel, which was earlier priced at Rs 275.70 per litre, will now be available at Rs 280.86 per litre.

The revised prices will remain effective for the upcoming fortnight, adding to the financial burden on consumers already grappling with inflation.
