Peshawar Reports Fourth Monkeypox Case

Islamabad: The Ministry of Health confirmed on Sunday that a fourth case of Monkeypox has been reported in Peshawar.

The affected individual, a 47-year-old from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, was isolated on August 29 by Border Health Services staff after showing symptoms. The patient had recently returned from the Gulf countries.

National Coordinator for Health Dr Mukhtar Bharath emphasized that a robust screening system is in place at all airports to detect and prevent the spread of Monkeypox. 

He reassured that Pakistan has implemented effective measures to manage the situation.

Dr Bharath highlighted that the federal capital and provinces are closely coordinating their efforts, and the government is committed to timely and necessary interventions. 

The Ministry of Health is actively monitoring the situation, and both the Ministry and provincial governments are engaged in proactive measures to address the outbreak.
