Multan: On the appeal of the All Punjab Transport Association, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has ordered the withdrawal of the recently issued notification under the Punjab Traffic Ordinance 2025.
Vice Chairman of the AC Transport Association Chaudhry Tariq Zaman Gujjar, along with President Malik Javed Dogar and Vice President Haji Tariq, said on Monday that the transport community was grateful to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for withdrawing the notification on their request.
Addressing a press conference, he also paid tribute to Chairman All Punjab Transport Association Ismatullah Niazi for raising his voice against the heavy fines and challans imposed on transporters, which ultimately led to the suspension of the notification.
He said transporters had been facing severe financial pressure due to thousands of rupees in daily fines. He added that the chief minister, keeping in view the growing problems and excessive penalties, had suspended the notification for 15 days.
He said meetings between transporters and government representatives would be held during this period and expressed hope for positive outcomes. He further said that CM Maryam Nawaz was playing an effective role in resolving public issues across Punjab, resulting in a visible reduction in public grievances.
