PCB Suspends Players’ NOCs After Asia Cup Final Defeat

News Desk

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for its players, effectively barring them from participating in foreign T20 leagues, sources confirmed Tuesday.

The move comes a day after Pakistan’s defeat to India in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai. According to sources, PCB Chief Operating Officer Syed Sameer Ahmed issued the notification, directing players to withdraw from international leagues and give priority to domestic cricket.

Top cricketers including Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and Faheem Ashraf — who had been granted NOCs to feature in Australia’s Big Bash League — will be directly impacted by the suspension.

The decision follows Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the final, where India clinched their third consecutive Asia Cup title. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav dismantled Pakistan’s batting order with figures of 4 for 30, while Tilak Verma’s unbeaten 69 and Shivam Dube’s quickfire 33 guided India to a five-wicket victory.

With this win, India secured their ninth Asia Cup trophy and extended their winning streak against Pakistan to eight consecutive matches.
