Islamabad: The federal government announced on Wednesday that Eidul Fitr 2025 holidays will be observed from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2.
As per a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, Eidul Fitr is expected to be celebrated across Pakistan on Monday, March 31, 2025, after completing 29 days of Ramadan.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has stated that the Shawwal crescent is likely to be visible on the evening of Sunday, March 30, assuming the weather conditions are favorable.
Khalid Ijaz Mufti, Secretary General of the council, mentioned that the new moon will be born on Saturday, March 29, at 3:58 PM Pakistan time. By sunset on Sunday, the moon’s age will surpass 26 hours, making it visible to the naked eye.
Mufti clarified that the moon must be at least 18 hours old at sunset to be visible, a condition that will easily be met. The time difference between sunset and moonset will also exceed the required 40 minutes in various cities.
With favorable conditions, the council expects no issues in confirming the crescent sighting, ensuring Eid celebrations will take place on March 31.
