Istanbul: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, accompanied by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held a high-level meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul.

Deputy PM Dar conveyed warm greetings and a congratulatory message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to President Erdoğan, reaffirming Pakistan’s deep appreciation for its historic, brotherly ties with Türkiye. He emphasized Pakistan’s strong commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

The two sides reiterated their shared vision to deepen strategic collaboration, grounded in mutual values, cultural affinity, and religious solidarity.

Shared Stance Against Israeli Aggression

In a powerful joint message, both Pakistani and Turkish leaders condemned Israel’s ongoing attacks on Iran, describing them as blatant violations of international law and the United Nations Charter.

They expressed full support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, asserting its right to self-defense under the UN framework.

They also voiced grave concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and demanded an immediate end to Israeli aggression. Urging the international community to step up, both leaders called for uninterrupted humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian population.

Call for Diplomacy and Peace

The Pakistani and Turkish leadership expressed a unified resolve to pursue diplomatic avenues to de-escalate rising regional tensions. They urged global powers to prioritize peace and stability and intensify efforts to prevent further conflict in the Middle East.

Deputy PM Dar also congratulated President Erdoğan on receiving a prestigious award from the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum, commending his leadership and Türkiye’s successful hosting of the OIC session.

Erdoğan: Netanyahu a Threat to Peace

Earlier, President Erdoğan addressed an emergency OIC summit in Istanbul, where he delivered a scathing critique of Israel’s actions in Iran and Gaza. He described the Israeli strikes on Iranian territory as a serious breach of international law and pledged Türkiye’s full solidarity with Tehran. “Iran has every right to defend itself,” he said.

Erdoğan compared Israel’s current actions to those of Nazi Germany under Hitler, warning that Prime Minister Netanyahu’s “Zionist ambitions” risk igniting a regional and global disaster. “We are confident that victory will be on Iran’s side,” he said, adding that “just as Hitler’s spark set the world on fire 90 years ago, Netanyahu’s policies are dragging the world toward catastrophe.”

He also condemned Israel’s prolonged and deadly military campaign in Gaza, now in its 21st month, accusing Israeli forces of systematically targeting civilians, including children, and weaponizing starvation. “Two million of our brothers and sisters in Gaza are living under conditions worse than Nazi concentration camps,” he said.

Warning Against Regional Destabilization

The Turkish president accused Israel of deliberately seeking to expand the conflict across the region. “Israel wants to set the entire region ablaze,” he warned, calling Netanyahu’s government the greatest obstacle to peace.

Highlighting Israeli operations in the West Bank, Erdoğan said atrocities were spreading and criticized the global community’s silence. “I appeal to the world: stop Israel before it drags us all into deeper chaos.”

No New Sykes-Picot Order

Erdoğan also issued a strong warning against any attempts to redraw the political map of the Middle East through conflict. Referring to the colonial-era Sykes-Picot agreement, he declared, “We will not allow a new map to be drawn in blood.”

Calling for greater unity among Muslim nations, Erdoğan emphasized that Türkiye and Iran share a “common destiny.” He urged the Islamic world to act as a united and independent force on the global stage.

“We stand at the threshold of an era where the Islamic world can play a decisive global role. But first, we must resolve our internal disputes. Without unity and will, we only serve the interests of others.”
