Pakistan Storm into Semifinals of Asian YGN Championship 2025

South Korea: Pakistan secured a place in the semifinals of the Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship 2025 with a spirited 49-39 win over the Maldives in their fifth and final group-stage encounter at the Jeonju Hwasan Gymnasium on Tuesday.
In a tightly contested match, the young Pakistani side held their nerve to clinch the win, topping Group B in the process. They led 14-12 at the end of the first quarter but trailed 24-26 at halftime. The Green Shirts regained control in the third quarter with a narrow 35-32 lead and finished strong in the final quarter to seal their fifth consecutive victory in the tournament.
Star performances came from Leya Raza Shah, Alisha Naveed, Sumayya Kouser, Haleema, Jasmine Farooq, and Farah Rasheed, who played pivotal roles in the team’s success.

Chairman of the Pakistan Netball Federation Mudassar Arian, President Sameen Malik, and Secretary General Muhammad Riaz congratulated the team on their unbeaten group-stage run and progression to the semifinal stage.
With this latest victory, Pakistan are now set to face Japan in the semifinals on Thursday, July 3. Under the revised format introduced by the Asian Netball Federation, the top four teams from both Group A (Gold Cup Division) and Group B (Plate Cup Division) qualify for the semifinals, with cross-division matchups based on group rankings.
The championship, which runs from June 27 to July 4, features eleven teams representing Asian nations. Group A includes Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and India, while Group B consists of Chinese Taipei, Japan, South Korea, Pakistan, Maldives, and Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan opened their campaign with a dominant 71-15 victory over Saudi Arabia, followed by a 56-32 win against Chinese Taipei. They continued their impressive form with a 91-6 demolition of South Korea and a convincing 79-39 triumph over Japan.
The team now eyes a place in the final as they gear up for a high-stakes clash against Japan.
