Pakistan Arrests 10 Alleged RAW Agents in Punjab, Sindh

Lahore/Karachi: Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested 10 alleged operatives linked to India’s intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), during a series of intelligence-based operations in Punjab and Sindh provinces, officials said on Wednesday.

In a press conference held in Lahore, Punjab Additional Inspector General Shahzada Sultan announced the success of “Operation Yalghar,” during which six Pakistani nationals were apprehended for allegedly acting as RAW facilitators. The arrests were made in Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar, key cities in southern Punjab.

“We have arrested one RAW facilitator from Bahawalpur and two Indian spies from Bahawalnagar,” Sultan said, terming the development a major success against foreign-sponsored terrorism.

According to CTD officials, the detained suspects were allegedly planning attacks on mosques and railway stations in Bahawalpur. Audio recordings of two Indian intelligence officers—identified as Major Ravindra and Inspector Singh—were also recovered. Officials claim that Major Ravindra personally transported improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to the facilitators near the Pakistan border.

Funding Channels Uncovered

Investigations revealed that funding for the planned attacks came through cryptocurrency platforms and branchless banking systems, reflecting a complex network of financial channels used for subversive purposes.

Additional IG Sultan confirmed that recent attacks in Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan were also financed from Afghanistan, with RAW allegedly channeling funds to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) elements in these regions.

He further clarified that no direct link had yet been established between the Punjab-based network and a separate RAW cell dismantled in Karachi earlier the same day.

“All the suspects apprehended in Operation Yalghar are Pakistani nationals,” Sultan stated, adding that Pakistan would raise the issue of Indian interference at international forums to expose the alleged foreign involvement in terrorism on its soil.

Four RAW ‘Operatives’ Caught in Karachi

Meanwhile in Karachi, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shoaib Memon revealed that the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), in collaboration with intelligence agencies, arrested four suspects allegedly connected to RAW.

Speaking at a press briefing, SSP Memon said the operatives were in direct communication with an Indian Army officer, identified as Colonel Ranjit. Explosives, weapons, and a vehicle were seized during the raid.

“The suspects, all residents of Sujawal district, have reportedly crossed the Indian border more than 20 times,” he disclosed.

According to authorities, the arrested individuals were allegedly involved in spying and providing geotagged images and sensitive information about military installations to their handlers in India.

Espionage and anti-state cases have been registered, and investigations are ongoing to trace the wider network and any remaining accomplices.
