Rawalpindi: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) contingent comprising the cutting-edge JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter jets and the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft has arrived at the Royal Air Force Base Fairford in the United Kingdom to participate in the prestigious Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2025.

Considered one of the world’s largest military airshows, RIAT provides a global platform for showcasing aviation excellence. PAF’s participation underscores its commitment to demonstrating professional prowess, operational capabilities, and the growing strength of Pakistan’s indigenous aviation industry, according to a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

On their way to the UK, the JF-17 Block-III aircraft successfully performed mid-air refuelling operations with the support of a PAF IL-78 aerial refuelling tanker. This complex operation highlighted the long-range operational readiness of the PAF, as well as the skill and coordination of its air and ground crews in executing extended missions beyond Pakistan’s borders.

The JF-17 Thunder Block-III is a 4.5-generation multi-role fighter jet equipped with an AESA radar and long-range Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missile systems. Designed for versatility, the aircraft can conduct a wide range of combat missions, significantly enhancing Pakistan’s airpower and contributing to national defence in the face of modern security challenges.

The arrival of the PAF contingent has generated excitement among aviation enthusiasts and defence analysts in the UK, especially following recent Pakistan-India tensions. The JF-17’s combat record and advanced capabilities have drawn international attention, making its appearance at RIAT 2025 a major attraction for the global aerospace and defence community.
