PAF JF-17 Block-III Jets Join Indus Shield Alpha in Azerbaijan

Rawalpindi: A contingent of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), comprising state-of-the-art JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter jets along with experienced air and ground crew, has arrived in Azerbaijan to participate in the bilateral aerial combat exercise Indus Shield Alpha.

According to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the PAF fighters accomplished a non-stop flight from Pakistan to Azerbaijan, successfully conducting in-flight air-to-air refuelling operations en route.

The intricate mid-air refuelling operation, carried out with precision by PAF’s IL-78 aerial tanker, highlighted the long-range operational capability of the JF-17 Thunder and underscored the professional excellence and preparedness of PAF personnel for extended international deployments.

The statement said that Exercise Indus Shield Alpha aims to strengthen mutual understanding, tactical coordination, and interoperability between the air forces of Pakistan and Azerbaijan. The exercise will focus on modern aerial warfare tactics, joint mission planning, and execution in an evolving technological and strategic environment.

It will also serve as a vital platform to exchange operational experience and enhance collective responses to emerging aerial defence challenges.

The participation of the Pakistan Air Force contingent in Exercise Indus Shield Alpha reaffirms PAF’s commitment to regional stability and international military cooperation.
