Operation Launched Against Dengue Hotspots in Pindi

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has launched an operation to clear dengue hotspots and remove encroachments in different parts of the district under the supervision of its Director General, Kinza Murtaza.

According to an RDA spokesman, the enforcement squad carried out inspections in Dhok Munshee, Gangal, Dhamyal, Kulyal, Wazir Town, Fazal Town, and several illegal private housing schemes. Legal and punitive actions were taken against property owners and occupiers found violating regulations.

In Dhok Munshee, a special operation targeted illegal properties built along the nullah, which officials said posed a risk to public health and violated existing laws. The RDA stressed that the removal of such encroachments was necessary to prevent dengue outbreaks and to ensure the smooth flow of water during the ongoing monsoon rains.

During a visit to an illegal construction site in Wazir Town, the DG directed the enforcement squad to take all necessary legal measures against those responsible.

Emphasizing the importance of proactive measures, Kinza Murtaza said that RDA was committed to expanding vector surveillance and dengue control efforts, especially in high-risk zones. “We are determined to ensure that dengue prevention initiatives reach every corner of RDA-controlled areas,” she added.

The DG also underlined the need to address technical challenges, including the activation of dormant users and resolution of DVR issues, to strengthen surveillance.

Through these initiatives, the RDA aims to minimize the spread of dengue fever in Rawalpindi and safeguard the health and safety of residents across both regulated housing schemes and areas under its control.
