One Killed, Policeman Injured in Islamabad Firing

Islamabad/ Muzafargarh: A firing incident in Islamabad and a road accident in Muzaffargarh claimed two lives on Sunday, while at least 12 people were injured in separate incidents, officials said.
In Islamabad, a 30-year-old man was killed and a police constable injured in a targeted firing near Shakarparian. Police said an unidentified armed assailant opened fire near the Open Air Theatre before fleeing the scene.
The deceased was identified as Sanaullah, son of Ameer Nawab Umar, a resident of district Karak who was living in the federal capital. He sustained critical bullet injuries and was rushed to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where he succumbed to his wounds. His body was shifted to PIMS for post-mortem.
During the incident, Constable Hussain Shah, who was deployed on checking duty at the entry point, sustained a bullet injury to his right leg. He was shifted to hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable and out of danger.

According to initial findings, the assailant approached the victim from behind while wearing a shawl and opened fire from close range, approximately 10 to 15 metres before the entry point. Police said preliminary investigation suggests personal enmity as a possible motive, though all aspects are being examined.
Following the incident, police cordoned off the area, collected forensic evidence and launched a search operation. Special teams have been constituted to trace and arrest the suspect, police officials said, adding that strict legal action would be taken against those involved.
Meanwhile, in Muzaffargarh, a bus driver was killed and 11 passengers injured when a passenger bus collided with a truck near the Haq Chaar Yaar area of Jatoi tehsil due to dense fog.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the New Habib Khan passenger bus, traveling from Lahore to Jatoi, rammed into an oncoming truck. The bus driver, Muhammad Javed (55), son of Muhammad Aslam and a resident of Rahim Yar Khan, died on the spot.
Rescue 1122 dispatched three ambulances and a fire vehicle to the scene. Rescue teams retrieved the driver’s body from the wreckage and provided first aid to the injured passengers. Six of the injured sustained minor injuries and were treated at the site, while five were shifted to a nearby hospital after initial medical assistance.
Women, children and elderly passengers were among the injured. The injured were identified as Tahira Bibi (35), Bushra Bibi (28), Rida Fatima (4), Rameen Fatima (5), Muhammad Musa (3), Muhammad Isa (4), Muhammad Akram (44), Nishat (60), Naseer (55), Sadiqa Bibi (75) and Shahid (32).
Police and rescue officials said further investigation into both incidents was underway.
