Old Pipelines in G-6, Blue Area to Be Replaced Soon
News Desk
Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) have agreed to expedite the replacement of outdated gas pipelines in Islamabad’s G-6 sector and Blue Area, with a target to complete the work before winter to ensure uninterrupted supply to residents.
The decision was made during a meeting at CDA Headquarters, chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. SNGPL General Manager Adnan Ahmed briefed participants, including Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch and Member Finance Tahir Naeem, on the project’s progress.
Ahmed said the replacement of deteriorated pipelines was already underway and would help curb gas leaks, minimize losses, and improve overall system efficiency. Randhawa assured CDA’s full support, noting that engineering and environment wings had cleared all required no-objection certificates (NOCs).
Emphasizing the urgency of the task, Randhawa directed that the work be completed before winter to avoid seasonal shortages. He also instructed SNGPL to provide an early gas connection to the Gandhara Citizen Center in F-9 and to halt gas supply to unauthorized constructions.
SNGPL officials added that measures were being taken to enhance gas pressure across the capital to meet growing demand in the cold season.
Randhawa reaffirmed CDA’s commitment to citizen welfare, stating: “We are utilizing all resources to ensure uninterrupted basic facilities for residents.”
