Islamabad: Millions of mobile phone users in Pakistan may have to adjust their monthly budgets as major telecom operators have increased the prices of several call and internet packages over the past year.

An updated comparison released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) shows that the prices of popular hybrid and data bundles offered by Jazz, Zong, Ufone and Telenor have witnessed increases of up to 33 percent.

The PTA’s latest data highlights significant price changes across different categories of mobile packages. Monthly hybrid bundles have seen increases of up to Rs500, while 15-day packages have become costlier by as much as Rs300. Weekly bundles have also recorded price hikes of up to Rs130.

Short-duration packages have not remained unaffected, with three-day bundles increasing by up to Rs21, two-day offers by Rs20, and one-day hybrid packages by around Rs5.

The telecom regulator said the updated package comparison system on its website has been introduced to help consumers track changing prices and choose packages according to their requirements and budgets.

PTA said the initiative aims to improve transparency in the telecom sector by providing users with an easy comparison of the top 15 hybrid and data bundles from the country’s leading mobile operators.

The authority advised consumers to regularly check official PTA and telecom company platforms for updated package details before subscribing to any offer.

The latest price adjustments come at a time when mobile internet and digital services have become an essential part of everyday life, increasing concerns among users about the rising cost of connectivity.
