Nearly 70 Terrorists Neutralised in Forces’ Strikes: Talal Chaudhry
News Desk
Islamabad: State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said that nearly 70 terrorists were neutralised after Pakistan carried out intelligence-based strikes on terrorist targets along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Speaking on Geo Pakistan on Sunday, the minister said the government targeted seven camps and hideouts linked to Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK), its affiliates and the Daesh-Khorasan network in response to recent suicide attacks in Islamabad, Bajaur and Bannu.
According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the cross-border action was “precise and accurate” and conducted as a retaliatory response to the recent wave of terrorism. The ministry stated that the attacks inside Pakistan had been orchestrated by handlers based in Afghanistan and claimed by elements of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) with links to FAK and Daesh.
Chaudhry said that Pakistan’s security forces have so far conducted around 70,000 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across the country, resulting in multiple arrests. In light of the latest operations, Pakistan struck seven different targets across the border, killing at least 70 militants.

“There is ample evidence suggesting that most of the slain terrorists were Pakistanis,” the minister said, adding that Afghanistan had long been exporting terrorism and that Pakistan was taking all necessary measures to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens.
He recalled that under the 2020 Doha accord, the Afghan Taliban had pledged not to allow Afghan soil to be used for terrorism. “However, Afghanistan and its interim government have failed to fulfil their promise,” he said.
Sources indicated that the recent strikes targeted militant hideouts in the Barmal area of Paktika province, Khogyani district of Nangarhar province, and the Ghani Khel, Behsud and Argoon areas.
Chaudhry maintained that Pakistan had made extensive diplomatic efforts and engaged in military-to-military talks in the past. He noted that several countries had raised concerns over Kabul’s alleged links to militant outfits, claiming that the United Nations had confirmed the presence of more than two dozen such groups operating in Afghanistan.

The minister urged political parties to remain united in the fight against terrorism, stating that all stakeholders, including the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership, had assured a united front in recent apex committee meetings.
Pakistan’s latest action comes amid heightened tensions between Islamabad and Kabul following a surge in terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. In October 2025, border clashes erupted after Afghan Taliban and militants allegedly launched attacks on Pakistani border posts, leading to significant casualties on both sides.
Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has witnessed a marked increase in cross-border militant activity, particularly in its border provinces.
Earlier this week, a terrorist attack in Bajaur district claimed the lives of 11 security personnel, while 12 militants were killed in a retaliatory operation by security forces.
