Naqvi Stresses Tech-Driven, Citizen-Centric Policing

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday reviewed progress on police infrastructure projects in the federal capital, reaffirming the government’s commitment to modern, citizen-centric policing.

During visits to multiple police stations, including Police Station Kohsar, the under-construction Women Police Station G-6, and Police Station Koral, the minister inspected newly rebuilt and ongoing facilities. He was accompanied by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Chairman CDA, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and other senior officials.

At Police Station Kohsar, the interior minister examined the newly completed building and reviewed public facilitation arrangements, including the front desk and operational sections. He directed officers to further enhance facilities to ensure improved service delivery for citizens.

Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that modern, technology-equipped police stations are essential to strengthening the policing system and enhancing public trust. He noted that upgraded infrastructure and the integration of modern technology would help align local policing standards with international practices.

While reviewing the under-construction Women Police Station G-6, he instructed authorities to expedite completion of the project, assuring that all required resources would be provided on a priority basis. At Police Station Koral, he set a two-month deadline for completion of the new building, stressing timely progress and quality execution.

Officials said the visit reflects the government’s continued focus on upgrading policing infrastructure and improving citizen facilitation across Islamabad.

Separately, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Qazi Ali Raza chaired a key meeting with officers of Sawan Zone to review crime control measures and security arrangements for the holy month of Ramazan.

The meeting was attended by SP Sawan Zone Khurram Ashraf, SDPOs and SHOs.

During the session, SSP Qazi issued directives regarding maintenance of law and order, effective crime prevention, enhanced patrolling and improved quality of investigations. He directed strict action against drug peddlers and those involved in illegal possession of weapons, while emphasizing immediate response to emergencies.

He reiterated that protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority of Islamabad Police.

Special security arrangements at mosques and imambargahs during Ramazan, particularly during Taraweeh, Sehr and Iftar timings, were also discussed. The SSP instructed officers to maintain strong field presence and warned that any negligence in duty would not be tolerated.

Officials said the meeting underscored ICT Police’s proactive approach to ensuring public safety and smooth security management during Ramazan.
