Islamabad: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training (FE&PT) on Tuesday expressed serious concerns over unresolved governance issues at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology (FUUAST) and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission’s (NAVTTC) failure to provide critical data for evaluating program effectiveness.
During the 18th meeting, chaired by Dr Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro at Quaid-i-Azam University, the Committee highlighted a severe governance crisis at FUUAST.
Officials noted that the university has failed to address officially reported grievances, and raised concerns over the Vice Chancellor’s foreign travel without obtaining the mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC)—a clear breach of protocol.

The Committee directed the Ministry of Education to submit the inquiry committee’s findings and a detailed report within two weeks.
The Committee also scrutinized NAVTTC’s performance, criticizing the commission for not providing verifiable data on the number of persons trained, scholarships awarded, and the employment outcomes of graduates.
Members demanded clarification on how NAVTTC identifies international skill demands and integrates them into its training programs.
Separately, the Committee commended the National Institute of Psychology (NIP) at Quaid-i-Azam University for its specialized clinical psychology training and community services, acknowledging its role in assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions under faculty supervision.
The meeting was attended by MNAs including Syeda Amnah Batool, Zeb Jaffar, Farah Naz Akbar, Musarrat Asif Khawaja, Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, Mussarat Rafique Mahesar, Abdul Aleem Khan, and Sabheen Ghoury, along with Additional Secretary and officials from the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, HEC, and other concerned departments.
