Murree: In a move set to transform public service delivery in the hill station, the Punjab government has introduced a modern mobile license van for Murree’s citizens, enabling residents to obtain driving licenses right at their doorsteps.

According to the APP correspondent, the inauguration ceremony was held in Murree and attended by District Police Officer (DPO) Asif Amin Awan and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Waseem Akhtar, alongside local dignitaries, media representatives, and members of the public.

The mobile licensing unit, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, will offer all licensing services, including new license issuance, renewal, and verification. The initiative aims to save citizens the inconvenience of visiting licensing offices, especially in hilly terrain where travel can be difficult.

Officials said the service is part of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “people-first” vision, focused on bringing government facilities closer to citizens.

CTO Waseem Akhtar said the City Traffic Police Murree was committed to expanding public facilitation initiatives under the CM’s vision.

“We are working to ensure that citizens receive maximum convenience through modern, mobile-based services,” he added.

Participants and citizens welcomed the initiative, calling it a “commendable step” toward accessible governance. Many lauded the government’s effort to combine innovation and public convenience, particularly in tourist-heavy regions like Murree where accessibility remains a challenge.
