Mirpurkhas Faces Malaria Crisis as 13,000 Cases Reported

MirpurKhas: A significant rise in malaria cases has been reported in Mirpurkhas, with over 13,000 people testing positive following the recent heavy rains in the district.

District Health Officer Dr Jairam Das confirmed that the rainfall created ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoes, the primary carriers of malaria. Speaking to journalists from the Mirpurkhas Press Club at his office on Thursday, Dr Das assured that those affected by the outbreak are receiving appropriate treatment, including medication for mosquito bites.

He added that the situation is currently under control.

Dr Das stressed the importance of preventive measures and urged residents to be vigilant. “If anyone experiences fever or temperature-related symptoms, they should get tested for malaria immediately,” he advised, also encouraging the use of anti-mosquito measures to reduce the risk of infection.
