Met Office Predicts Heavy Rain with Thunder Across Pakistan

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rain accompanied by thunder in various parts of Pakistan. 

While most districts of Punjab are expected to remain hot and humid, certain areas are likely to experience rain and thundershowers.

These areas include Murree, Guliyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Khushab, Mianwali, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Faisalabad, Leh, Bhakkar, Taunsa, D.G. Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.

In addition, heavy winds and thundershowers are anticipated in parts of Kashmir, KP, Northeast/South Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, Sindh, Northeast/South Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Some areas may experience particularly heavy rainfall.

Islamabad’s Weather 

The weather in Islamabad and surrounding regions is expected to be hot and humid, but strong winds and thundershowers are predicted during the night, with heavy rains likely in some places.

Winds/Thundershowers in KP

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, areas such as Balakot, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Malakand, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Battagram, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Tank, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan may see gusty winds and thundershowers.

Most districts in Balochistan will remain hot and humid, but wind and thunder are expected in Zhob, Barkhan, Sherani, Musakhel, Kohlu, Sibi, Dera Bugti, Jhal Magsi, Nasirabad, Loralai, Khuzdar, Awaran, Lasbela, and surrounding areas, with a possibility of heavy rain in some locations.

Humid Karachi

In Karachi, the humidity is currently at 70%, and the weather is expected to stay hot and humid over the next 24 hours. Karachi is ranked the 15th most polluted city in the world and the fifth most polluted in Pakistan.

Elsewhere in Sindh, besides hot and humid conditions, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Qamber Shahdadkot, Larkana, Dadu, Jamshoro, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Badin, Sajawal, Thatta, and parts of Karachi are forecasted to experience strong winds and thundershowers.

Rain in Kashmir

In Kashmir, rain is expected in most areas, with heavy winds and thunderstorms predicted in a few places in Gilgit-Baltistan.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature recorded was 31 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 73 percent. The Meteorological Department has predicted more rain in the city this week.
