Karachi: In an alarming development, Karachi has witnessed a surge in measles cases, with the rate reported to be 50 percent higher than the usual norm.

According to Dr Khalid Shafi, Secretary General of the Pediatric Association, measles stands as one of the deadliest diseases due to its ease of transmission from one child to another.

Dr Shafi emphasizes that without vaccination, complications can escalate significantly. Shockingly, over 30 percent of the population in Pakistan remains unvaccinated.

In 2023, a staggering 36 thousand cases of measles were reported among children, highlighting the urgency of vaccination campaigns and public health awareness efforts.
