Massive fire engulfs textile factory in Rawat

Rawalpindi: A massive fire broke out suddenly in a textile factory located in the Rawat Industrial Estate area, engulfing a large portion of the factory. Teams from the Emergency Services Department Punjab Rescue 1122 rushed to the scene with heavy manpower and firefighting equipment and immediately launched an operation to bring the fire under control.

According to Rescue 1122 media coordinator Usman Gujjar, the initial response involved 10 emergency vehicles and more than 30 rescue personnel. However, due to the intensity of the fire, additional resources were called in.

Later, more than 45 rescue personnel along with 13 emergency vehicles became involved in the firefighting operation.”Fire was of a major scale, due to which rescue firefighters from across the district have been directed to reach the spot along with additional fire tenders have also been dispatched to the location”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Bahria Fire Service, Islamabad Fire Service, and WASA Rawalpindi have also been requested for assistance.

Till the last information received by APP, firefighters were intensely engaged in extinguishing the blazing fire with modern equipment and full strategy to control the blaze. The cause of the fire was still unknown.

No immediate information about any loss of life has been received so far, while the rescue and firefighting operation was still underway at the time of the last update.
