Man Held Near Adiala Jail After Filming Imran Khan’s Transfer

Rawalpindi: Law enforcement officials have detained a social media activist near Adiala Jail after he allegedly recorded footage of the movement of incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan during his transfer between hospital and prison, according to sources cited by The News.
Haider Saeed was taken into custody in the Dahgal Naka area, located close to Adiala Jail, and shifted to a nearby police post for questioning.
The detention followed Monday night’s high-security transport of the former premier from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) back to prison after a medical examination.
Sources said Saeed allegedly recorded footage of the official motorcade outside the hospital, prompting a security response. Authorities have not publicly detailed the specific charges or legal grounds for the detention.
The incident occurred amid ongoing medical treatment for Khan, who has been incarcerated since August 2023 following convictions in multiple cases that he maintains were politically motivated after his removal from office in 2022.
According to medical details shared in court proceedings, Khan has been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), a serious eye condition that has reportedly reduced vision in his right eye to 15 percent.
During his recent hospital visit, he received a second anti-VEGF intravitreal injection as part of his treatment plan, with another dose expected in the coming weeks.
While the government has stated that the former prime minister is receiving appropriate medical care, the detention of the activist has raised fresh questions among observers about security protocols surrounding Khan’s movements and the limits placed on recording high-profile prisoner transfers.
The development adds another layer to the heightened security and political sensitivities surrounding the former leader’s incarceration and medical visits.
