Malik Played Well for Himself, Not for Team: Razzaq

News Desk

Islamabad: Former cricketer Razzaq Abdul, during an interview, criticised Shoaib Malik, stating that Shoaib Malik played for personal gains rather than contributing to the team’s success.

He spoke in a recent segment on Geo News’ programme, “Losing is Forbidden.”

Abdul Razzaq expressed his views on the impact of Russo’s captaincy on the Quetta Gladiators and scrutinised Shoaib Malik’s individual-centric approach in the Karachi Kings match.

Razzaq noted that Russo, the new captain of the Quetta Gladiators, brings a calm demeanour to the team.

Highlighting the departure of Sarfraz Ahmed, who led Quetta for the past eight years, Razzaq emphasised the significant influence a captain has on team dynamics.

He praised Babar Azam for fulfilling his role as captain in the Peshawar Zalmi match, acknowledging that each player has a specific role in the team.

Razzaq pointed out the weaknesses in the Karachi Kings’ bowling lineup, stating that the team’s batting strength diminishes after the initial batsmen.

Underscoring the essence of team play, Abdul Razzaq stressed that a player’s worth is determined by their contribution to the team’s performance.

In a lighter note, Maryam Nafees, co-star in “Harna Muni Hai,” expressed her liking for Lahore Qalandars after Islamabad, while Sunil Manj expressed optimism for Lahore’s performance, citing the team’s winning streak.
