Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s cabinet has approved a proposal to relaunch the search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which vanished under mysterious circumstances a decade ago, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced on Friday.

Speaking to reporters, Loke said the government had “agreed in principle” on December 13 to proceed with a new search operation led by Ocean Infinity, a US- and UK-based company. The search will focus on a new area spanning approximately 15,000 square kilometers in the southern Indian Ocean.

“The proposal from Ocean Infinity is a robust one and warrants consideration,” Loke stated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to resolving the mystery surrounding the flight.

Flight MH370, a Boeing 777 aircraft carrying 239 passengers and crew, disappeared on March 8, 2014, during its journey from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Despite the most extensive search operation in aviation history, the plane has not been found.

Ocean Infinity’s proposal reignites hope of uncovering answers to one of aviation’s greatest mysteries.
