Islamabad: Health experts are advising individuals aiming to lose weight to incorporate more low-calorie foods into their daily diets, emphasizing that such choices can lead to healthier and more sustainable weight reduction.

Fruits and vegetables, rich in water content, help keep the body feeling full while adding minimal calories. Since water itself has no calories, foods high in water contribute to a sense of fullness without promoting weight gain.

Experts highlight the importance of choosing foods that are large in volume but low in energy density—such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. These foods not only provide essential nutrients but also digest slowly due to their high fiber content, making them ideal for weight management.

A calorie is a unit of energy used to measure the nutritional value of food. While daily calorie needs vary based on activity level, excessive intake—especially without physical activity—can lead to weight gain. Sedentary individuals typically require around 2,500 calories per day, while those with moderate activity need approximately 3,000. Physically demanding jobs may push the requirement to 4,500 or more calories daily.

Health experts also warn that poor sleep habits can contribute to weight gain. Staying up late disrupts sleep patterns and metabolic functions. For optimal health and weight control, they recommend 7 to 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night.

Additionally, increasing daily water intake is crucial. Drinking more water not only helps eliminate toxins from the body but also boosts metabolism, aiding in the efficient burning of calories and supporting overall well-being.
