Lahore Cools Down with Light Rain

Lahore/ Bahawalpur: The provincial capital experienced light rain on Wednesday, which made the weather pleasantly cooler with temperatures dropping to 24°C. The Meteorological Department has predicted continued showers until August 31.

The rain began at 12:55 PM and lasted for over an hour, causing difficulties for commuters. The following rainfall measurements were recorded: Jail Road 8 mm, Nishter Town 7 mm, Chowk Nakhuda 13 mm, Pani Wala Talab 13 mm, Laxmi Chowk 11 mm, Gulberg 15 mm, Airport 12 mm, Upper Mall 16 mm, and Mughalpura 7 mm. The city district government was actively involved in monitoring drainage activities during and after the rain.

According to a spokesperson for the Pakistan Meteorological Department, rain with wind/thunder showers (including a few heavy falls) is expected in Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Lohdran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, and Rahimyar Khan until August 31, with occasional gaps.

In Bahawalpur, the local Met Office forecasts partly cloudy to cloudy weather with a chance of more rain over the next 24 hours.

 

On Wednesday, the maximum temperature recorded was 32°C and the minimum was 25°C. The forecast for the rest of the region includes partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with more rain expected.
