The city recorded an average AQI of 201, with PM2.5 levels measured at 30.2 times higher than the World Health Organization’s annual guideline value.

Some of the most affected areas included Johar Town, multiple DHA phases, Model Town, Syed Maratib Ali Road, sections of Multan Road, Burki Road, Ferozepur Road, and locations around GCU Lahore and WWF-Pakistan.

The NIH warned that prolonged exposure to toxic air, combined with cold weather, could increase the risk of respiratory illnesses and pneumonia.

The advisory noted that smog continues to affect public health and overall quality of life, with higher risk levels reported in Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Children and older adults were specifically advised to wear masks and limit outdoor activities.

Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and follow safety measures to reduce health risks during the ongoing smog season.
