Karachi University Issues New Guidelines on Student Attire

Karachi: The University of Karachi has issued a new set of guidelines regarding student attire, stressing the importance of maintaining a respectful and modest appearance on campus.

The notification, released by Dr Nosheen Raza, the Students’ Adviser, outlines the expected standards for student dress codes. The guidelines emphasize that students should wear clean, modest clothing that reflects the academic environment’s respect and professionalism.

The dress code prohibits attire deemed provocative, offensive, or distracting.

Specifically, students are prohibited from wearing revealing or see-through clothing, shorts, sleeveless or tight-fitting garments, as well as clothing with objectionable language or graphics. Additionally, casual footwear such as flip-flops is banned within the university premises.Karachi University Issues New Guidelines on Student AttireDr Raza, in a statement to Geo.tv, clarified that Karachi University regularly issues notifications on student discipline. “With over 45,000 students enrolled, Karachi University is one of the largest institutions in Pakistan.

This notification has been issued to ensure new students, especially those joining this academic year, are aware of the dress code,” she explained. “Evening admissions are still in progress, and we wanted to make the new students aware of the existing guidelines. This is a routine reminder as per the university’s code, which mandates students to wear modest attire.”

Students are expected to adhere to these dress code regulations while on campus.
