Karachi Flat Tragedy: Husband, Son Confess to Killing Women
News Desk
Karachi: The mystery surrounding the deaths of three women found inside a Karachi apartment has been solved, as the husband and son of the victims have confessed to killing them, police said on Wednesday.
According to officials, both suspects have been arrested and have cited severe financial stress as the motive behind the killings.
Last week, three women were discovered dead in a flat located in Block 1 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal. SSP East Zubair Nazir Sheikh said the victims were 52-year-old Samina — wife of Muhammad Iqbal — her 19-year-old daughter Samreen, and 22-year-old daughter-in-law Maha.
Samina’s 30-year-old son, Muhammad Yasin, was found in critical condition and shifted to the hospital. The family’s head, Muhammad Iqbal, was initially described as mentally unstable, as reported by The News.
Police said Iqbal was the one who informed authorities about the incident, which at first was believed to be the result of suffocation due to a suspected gas leak. However, a post-mortem examination revealed that one of the bodies was already two days old by the time police arrived.
Yasin, found in a semi-conscious condition, appeared hesitant during questioning, prompting police to detain both father and son.

Investigators later determined that Iqbal had allegedly mixed sedatives into drinks served to his wife, daughter, and daughter-in-law. Yasin also consumed the sedative-laced beverage and became severely ill, police said. Seeing his son’s deteriorating condition, Iqbal reportedly refrained from drinking the mixture himself.
A police surgeon told Geo News that the case is “extremely complex,” adding that toxic substances were found in Yasin’s blood, which were also responsible for the deaths of the three women.
Officials further disclosed that Iqbal was reportedly involved in witchcraft. The family had accumulated loans exceeding Rs15 million and had rented out a house and a car.
Police confirmed that Yasin was associated with the property business and that a letter written by Iqbal had been recovered and is under examination. Another letter, written by Maha before her death, has also surfaced.
Authorities said Iqbal’s letter contained “private matters” and clarified that it was never sent to anyone.
Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar has taken notice of the incident and directed the SSP East to ensure a transparent and thorough investigation.
