Islamabad: Tucked away in the lush green mountains of Chinari in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the majestic Jaskol Waterfall has quietly transformed from a local secret into a rising star on the region’s tourism map. With its crystal-clear cascades, towering cliffs, and tranquil surroundings, Jaskol is now being hailed as a sanctuary for tourists, nature photographers, and adventure seekers alike.

Recently spotlighted in a special segment titled Explore Kashmir by PTV News, the waterfall has earned accolades as one of Kashmir’s most awe-inspiring natural gems. The visual journey through the region showcases the waterfall’s pristine beauty, bringing national attention to this serene and secluded paradise.

A Visual Delight

Local photographer Imran, who has spent years capturing the many moods of Jaskol, shared his insights into the site’s growing appeal. “We’re proud to provide tourists with high-quality photographs that capture the raw and untouched beauty of the waterfall,” he said. “Even with the recent surge in visitors, our goal is to ensure every shot preserves the natural magic of the landscape.”

Offering affordable packages for tourists, Imran believes photography has become a popular way for visitors to carry a tangible memory of their experience back home. “It’s not just about the pictures—it’s about the emotions, the tranquility, and the awe that Jaskol inspires.”

Eco-Friendly Tourism

As visitor numbers increase, so do the calls for better infrastructure and amenities to support sustainable tourism. A local resident and shopkeeper, Shahid Hussain, believes the government should take immediate steps to develop the area without compromising its ecological balance.

“With more people discovering this place, there’s an urgent need for basic facilities like rest houses, food outlets, and clean restrooms,” he emphasized. “If developed responsibly, Jaskol could become a major attraction for both domestic and international tourists. It would not only uplift the local economy but also provide employment opportunities to the community.”

He suggested that leasing the surrounding land for eco-friendly tourist development could be a strategic step in preserving the site while also enhancing the visitor experience.

Asia’s Best-Kept Secret

Another local, Amina Begum, passionately described the waterfall as “Asia’s best-kept secret.” A frequent traveler across the continent, she said, “There is no place quite like Jaskol. Its glassy waters, encased by dramatic cliffs and forested slopes, make it one of the most visually striking locations I’ve ever visited. More people need to know about this place—it could easily rank among the top natural wonders of Asia.”

Tourists echo similar sentiments. “It’s like stepping into a dream,” said Rameez, a tourist from Islamabad. “The sound of the rushing water, the mist in the air, and the surrounding greenery—it’s almost meditative. Jaskol is not just a destination; it’s an experience that stays with you.”

A Future Worth Preserving

While the buzz around Jaskol Waterfall continues to grow, locals and visitors alike agree that the area must be developed with care. The focus, they say, should remain on preserving its natural beauty while providing essential services that can support a sustainable tourism model.

As one visitor aptly put it, “Jaskol is more than a waterfall—it’s a reminder of nature’s untouched grace. Let’s make sure it remains that way, even as we welcome the world to see it.”

With rising interest and a push for sustainable development, Jaskol Waterfall is on the brink of becoming one of Pakistan’s most cherished eco-tourism sites—where adventure meets serenity, and every visit becomes a memory etched in nature’s timeless script.
