‘Jashn-e-Baharan’ Festivities To Begin Today

Rawalpindi: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has finalized all the arrangements for the ‘Jashn-e-Bahran Mela’ (spring festival) and flower exhibition starting from March 19 at the Allama Iqbal Park in Rawalpindi.

PHA Spokesperson said that Jashan-e-Baharan would begin by organizing a marathon race. A flower show, musical show, circus, open-air theater, Punjabi cultural stall, food festival, fireworks show, candlelight show, and ‘Rangoli’ competitions would be organised under the spring festival, while the venue has been beautifully decorated with colourful lights, she added.

Various sports competitions would also be part of the program besides the marathon race, which would start from Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex at 9 a.m. and conclude at Allama Iqbal Park, spokeswoman said, adding that in order to raise public interest in these activities, special prizes would also be given to the position holders who shown exceptional performance in various competitions.

Folk artists hailing from Punjab will perform at the festival, to highlight the culture of the province. Indigenous food stalls from all constituent units will also be on display during the festival.

The event will serve as an opportunity for the youth to become aware of the culture, handicrafts and food of the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
