ITP to Arrest Drivers Without Licenses After Oct 7
News Desk
Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced that strict action will be taken against drivers without valid licenses after the extended deadline of October 7, including arrest and vehicle impoundment.
Speaking to a local news channel, the Chief Officer of ITP said offenders would face legal consequences, including detention and confiscation of vehicles, as part of efforts to curb unlawful driving practices in the capital.
In addition, officials confirmed that citizens found driving without a license will not be eligible to receive character certificates until they obtain one. The measure aims to discourage unlicensed driving by linking it to broader administrative restrictions.
To facilitate the surge in demand, ITP has expanded services at its facilitation centres, extending working hours and deploying mobile units across the city to make the licensing process more accessible.
Authorities stressed that the initiative is not only about penalties but about improving road safety and reducing accidents caused by unlicensed drivers. By urging citizens to comply with licensing requirements before the deadline, ITP hopes to strengthen adherence to traffic laws and create safer roads in Islamabad.
