Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has finalised a comprehensive traffic management plan for the holy month of Ramazan, with over 450 officers and personnel set to be deployed across the federal capital to ensure smooth traffic flow and public convenience.

The plan was approved during a special meeting chaired by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Hamza Humayun at the Traffic Headquarters in Faizabad. The meeting reviewed anticipated traffic challenges during Ramazan and outlined measures to address increased congestion at key locations.

According to officials, traffic personnel will be stationed at mosques, Imambargahs, major markets, Ramazan Sahulat bazaars, as well as Sunday and weekly bazaars, where vehicular pressure typically rises during the holy month.

The CTO said additional officers will perform duties during peak hours of Sehr, Iftar and Taraweeh prayers to prevent bottlenecks and maintain uninterrupted traffic movement.

Special focus will be placed on parking management outside places of worship and busy commercial centres to reduce inconvenience for commuters.

Special traffic squads will regulate movement at Ramazan bazaars and major commercial hubs, while help desks will be established at selected points after Iftar to assist road users.

Senior officers, including the SP Traffic and zonal DSPs, have been directed to remain present in the field to ensure effective supervision throughout Ramazan.

Emphasising professionalism, the CTO instructed personnel to maintain courteous and patient behaviour with the public, warning that misconduct would not be tolerated.

A special crackdown will also be launched against one-wheeling, reckless driving and other traffic violations, particularly after Sehr and Iftar, with strict legal action promised against violators.

Separate traffic and parking arrangements have also been finalised for the Faisal Mosque, where large congregations are expected during Taraweeh prayers.

The Islamabad Traffic Police reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring road safety, smooth traffic flow and maximum facilitation for citizens during Ramazan.
