News Desk

Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Monday issued a traffic advisory, warning commuters of heavy traffic congestion on Srinagar Highway and the Islamabad Expressway during office and peak hours.

An ITP spokesperson said that routine office movement is likely to increase traffic pressure on these two major arteries, potentially affecting the smooth flow of vehicles.

He advised citizens to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra travel time, and remain patient while commuting during rush hours.

The spokesperson added that ITP personnel will remain deployed at key points to regulate traffic and facilitate commuters.

For traffic updates or assistance, citizens can contact the Traffic Helpline at 1915 or the emergency helpline Pucar-15.

Motorway Police Advise limited travel hours amid foggy conditions

Motorway Police spokesperson on Monday warned motorists that foggy conditions can cause serious accidents if lane discipline is not maintained and advised drivers to limit their travel to between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

In a special statement with various media news channels,  a spokesperson of motorway police said that authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation and will reopen the affected routes as soon as visibility improves. They assured the public that safety remains the top priority.

The spokesperson also urged motorists to exercise caution while driving, avoid unnecessary journeys, and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent accidents during the foggy conditions.

National Highway & Motorway Police spokespersons explained that the closure of various motorways were necessary due to severely reduced visibility on the roads, which made driving extremely dangerous. They emphasized that these measures were taken to protect commuters and ensure road safety.

Motorists were urged to remain patient and plan their journeys carefully, traveling only when absolutely necessary. The authorities also assured the public that the motorways would be reopened once visibility improves and it is safe to resume normal traffic.
