Islamabad to Build Nine Modern Police Stations
News Desk
Islamabad: The federal capital is set to witness a significant upgrade in its policing infrastructure, as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has invited electronic bids worth Rs 873 million for the construction of nine modern police stations across Islamabad.
According to an official from CDA’s Procurement and Contracts Wing, tenders have been floated for projects in Humak, Loi Bher, Kirpa, Khanna, Koral, Nilore, Phulgran, Sangjani, and Shams Colony. Each facility is planned with modern designs and citizen-friendly spaces aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening community policing.
The official said that while most projects carry an estimated cost of Rs 95.196 million each, the Koral police station has been allocated Rs 111.30 million. Bid submissions are scheduled between September 22 and September 26, 2025.
A Citizen-Centric Approach
Residents have welcomed the initiative, seeing it as a much-needed step toward modernization. Raja Tahir Azad, a local from the Khanna police station jurisdiction, termed the development “a positive step,” pointing out that the current facility had long fallen into disrepair. “The new modern building will greatly benefit residents who often face difficulties in accessing basic services at the old structure,” he said.
Station House Officers (SHOs) in the city also believe the new facilities will improve police-community interaction. SHO Khanna, Aamir Hayat, told APP that a modern building would not only provide a friendly and clean environment for visiting citizens but also boost the morale of his team.
Similarly, SHO Shams Colony, Shahnawaz Dogar, emphasized that a well-equipped police station was “the need of the hour.” He explained that new features such as separate counters for different services would allow citizens to be seated with dignity and complete their tasks more efficiently.
Bridging Trust Through Infrastructure
Officials believe that modern infrastructure is more than just brick and mortar—it helps build trust between the police and the community. The improved facilities will ensure that citizens have easier access to services, while officers will benefit from a healthier work environment.
With Islamabad’s urban population growing rapidly, the construction of these nine police stations is expected to not only resolve longstanding issues of space and accessibility but also mark a shift toward citizen-friendly policing.
As one SHO summed it up: “Modern infrastructure will facilitate the public and enhance the overall efficiency of the police force in Islamabad.”
