Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has finalized foolproof security arrangements for Muharram processions and majalis across the federal capital, ensuring peace and religious harmony during the sacred month.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Muhammad Jawad Tariq and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan on Tuesday visited various procession routes and Imam Bargahs to review the ongoing security preparations.

According to an ICT Police official, the senior officers inspected the deployment of personnel along the routes and instructed on-duty officers to stay on high alert. They directed that all procession routes be fully cordoned off, equipped with adequate lighting, and strictly monitored under established standard operating procedures (SOPs).

DIG Tariq reaffirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order during Muharram and instructed zonal SDPOs and SHOs to remain present in the field. He emphasized the need for close coordination among officers to ensure the safety of citizens and the sanctity of religious events.

Highlighting the importance of inter-sect harmony, DIG Tariq said special focus is being placed on promoting religious tolerance and unity throughout the capital. He stressed that the SOPs must be enforced without any leniency.

“The peaceful environment of Islamabad will be preserved at all costs in line with the vision of IG Ali Nasir Rizvi,” DIG Tariq said, adding that the ICT Police is dedicated to upholding a spirit of mutual respect and security during Muharram.
