Islamabad: The Islamabad district administration on Tuesday removed roadside encroachments from key areas of the capital and detained 14 people involved in setting up illegal structures.
The anti-encroachment operation was conducted in sectors F-6, F-7, I-8, and I-9 as part of an ongoing campaign to keep public spaces accessible and obstruction-free. According to officials, the teams dismantled unauthorized setups, including pushcarts, kiosks, and makeshift stalls, which were causing inconvenience to pedestrians and traffic.
The detained individuals were handed over to local police for legal action, while the cleared sites were restored for smooth vehicular and pedestrian movement.
A spokesperson for the district administration said that such encroachments not only disrupt traffic but also pose safety hazards for citizens. The administration has directed inspection teams to carry out regular monitoring to prevent the reestablishment of illegal setups.
The official added that joint efforts with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the police are underway to ensure that public spaces remain free from unlawful occupation. Strict action has been ordered against repeat offenders.
The district administration also urged residents to report encroachments in their areas through its official complaint helpline and social media platforms, emphasizing the importance of citizen cooperation in maintaining order and public convenience across Islamabad.
