Tehran: Iran has accused Israel of committing “mass murder” following explosions in Lebanon that targeted Hezbollah group’s paging devices, resulting in 12 fatalities and injuring up to 2,800 people.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani condemned the incident, labeling it a “terrorist act” by the “Zionist regime” and an example of mass murder.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also denounced the explosions as “Israeli terrorism” after a phone conversation with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib.

Among the injured was Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, who reportedly sustained injuries to his hand and face.

However, Iranian state television stated that Amani’s injuries were minor, and the Iranian embassy in Beirut clarified on social media that there were no serious issues with his physical condition or vision.
The Iranian Red Crescent has dispatched “rescue teams and eye surgeons” to Lebanon to assist the wounded.

The group’s chief, Pirhossein Kolivand, announced that they are prepared to transfer critically injured individuals to Iran for treatment if necessary, according to the official IRNA news agency.
