Sukkur: The disappearance of 11-year-old Saira Soomro from the Pir’s mansion in Bharchundi, Dehrki, district Ghotki, has triggered widespread protests and public anger across Sindh.
According to reports, the Soomro family had sought refuge at the mansion after facing threats and attacks from the rival Bhutti community. Saira’s father, Fateh Muhammad Soomro, said he had entrusted his daughter’s safety to the Pir, who had assured protection. However, when the parents visited to check on her, they were told she was missing.
An FIR was lodged at Dherki police station, but the case has reportedly been handled poorly. The accused Pirs — Mian Arslan, Mian Sohail, and Mian Muhammad Ali were arrested but quickly secured bail, raising concerns about the misuse of influence and power.
Saira’s parents accuse the Pirs of involvement in their daughter’s disappearance, but her whereabouts remain unknown. Civil society groups and the Soomro community have staged protests demanding justice, accountability, and stronger action from authorities.
The continuing silence of officials has fueled public outrage, with campaigners warning that the case highlights serious concerns over the safety of vulnerable children and the alleged impunity of influential figures.
