Islamabad: Four Pakistani soldiers, including a young officer, were martyred as security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
According to the military’s media wing, the incident occurred in the Shawal area of North Waziristan where militants launched an attack on a security checkpoint. In the ensuing exchange of fire, Pakistani forces effectively repelled the assault, killing six foreign terrorists reportedly backed by India.
The martyred personnel were identified as Lieutenant Daniyal, Naib Subedar Kashif Raza, Lance Naik Fiaqat Ali, and Sepoy Muhammad Hameed. The ISPR paid tribute to their sacrifices, stating that their bravery reflects the armed forces’ steadfast commitment to safeguarding the country.
In a separate operation in the Chitral district, another Indian-sponsored militant was killed during a confrontation with security forces. A clearance operation is currently underway in the region to eliminate any remaining threats.
The ISPR reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces remain resolute in their mission to root out terrorism and foil any foreign-sponsored destabilization efforts.
Meanwhile, in Balochistan, security forces killed five terrorists affiliated with the banned outfit Fitna-ul-Hindustan during two intelligence-based operations.
The first operation was conducted in Loralai, where four militants were killed in a fierce gun battle. Weapons, ammunition, and explosive materials were recovered from the site. The ISPR said these individuals were involved in major attacks, including two incidents on August 26 last year and February 18, 2025, along National Highway 70 (N-70), which claimed the lives of at least 30 civilians.
In a separate operation in Kech district, one more terrorist associated with the same group was neutralized.
The ISPR reaffirmed the security forces’ commitment to eliminating all terrorist elements, particularly those associated with the so-called “Fitna-e-Hindustan,” and vowed to continue bringing militants and their facilitators to justice.
