India Releases Water into Sutlej, Floods Hit Border Villages

News Desk

Punjab: India’s release of additional water into the Sutlej River has triggered an unprecedented flood surge, inundating villages and washing away thousands of acres of standing crops.

The rising waters have swept into villages including Rukanpura and Kothi Fatah, causing extensive damage to homes and infrastructure and resulting in losses valued at millions of rupees. Electricity poles have also been uprooted, leaving affected areas without power.

Residents have been forced to evacuate to safer locations as floodwaters continue to rise. Local authorities are monitoring the situation and coordinating relief efforts to assist displaced families.

Our correspondent Maqsood Kaifi is on the ground reporting from one of the affected villages, speaking with residents about the impact of the floods.
