Illegal Housing Under Fire in Islamabad

Islamabad: The federal government has decided to launch an immediate crackdown against illegal constructions and unauthorized housing schemes in the capital.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday.
During the meeting, the Interior Minister ordered strict action against unapproved houses and illegal housing societies across Islamabad.
He emphasized the enforcement of a zero-tolerance policy and directed that satellite mapping be utilized to identify and halt all types of illegal constructions.
Mohsin Naqvi instructed the relevant Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Assistant Commissioners (ACs) to adopt a proactive approach in their duties.
He stressed that delivering world-class municipal and administrative services to the citizens of Islamabad should be a top priority.
Highlighting the importance of public trust, the Interior Minister said improving the image of the police and civil administration is crucial. “This can only be achieved when citizens have confidence in the system,” he remarked.
He urged concerned officials to introduce innovative measures for public convenience and to carry out their responsibilities with full commitment and national spirit to achieve tangible results.
In addition, the Interior Minister directed authorities to ensure strict monitoring and effective control over the prices of essential commodities in the city.
As Eid-ul-Adha approaches, he also called for special attention to cleanliness across Islamabad to maintain hygiene and civic order during the festive days.
