Islamabad: With only days left before the deadline, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has intensified its call for motorcycle owners to install mandatory M-Tags, warning that strict enforcement will begin from March 1.

Under the second phase of the ongoing registration campaign, February 28 has been declared the last date for compliance. From March 1 onward, motorcycles without M-Tags will not be allowed on the roads of the federal capital, and vehicles found in violation will be taken to police stations.

Officials from the Directorate of Excise and Taxation said enforcement teams will launch action immediately after the deadline to ensure full compliance. The Director General Excise described the initiative as part of a broader strategy to enhance vehicle identification, monitoring and record management in Islamabad.

More than 2,000 motorcycles have already been registered during the second phase of the drive, authorities said, adding that the number is expected to increase as the cutoff date approaches.

To manage the growing turnout, M-Tag centers are operating on weekends and holidays, with additional staff deployed to reduce waiting times. Information desks have also been set up to assist applicants regarding the registration procedure and required ownership documents.

Officials urged motorcycle owners to avoid last-minute delays and complete the process before February 28, emphasizing that public cooperation is vital for effective implementation and improved safety measures in the city.
