Islamabad: In response to ongoing sit-in and protest calls by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the federal government has moved to bolster Islamabad’s law enforcement capacity with a significant recruitment drive.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the creation of 1,934 new posts in the Islamabad Police, following a proposal by the Ministry of Interior to address the city’s escalating law-and-order challenges.
The positions include 24 Inspector-grade posts, 50 Sub-Inspectors, 100 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI), 180 Head Constables, and 1,580 Constables. The Management Services Wing of the Establishment Division has also greenlit the move, ensuring that the necessary administrative processes are in place.
Deputy Director of the Wing, Farhan Aslam, informed the Ministry of Interior about the approval via a formal letter. The next step involves securing budgetary allocation from the Finance Division to implement the recruitment plan.
This expansion marks a critical step towards ensuring Islamabad’s security in the face of recurring political protests, demonstrating the government’s proactive approach to maintaining order.
