ICT Police Suspend Officers Over Alleged Assault on Couple

Islamabad: Islamabad police have suspended several Dolphin Squad officers following the circulation of a video showing alleged police violence against a husband and wife in the F-8 sector.

The footage, reportedly captured by a local resident, appears to show the couple being stopped outside their home and physically assaulted by police personnel.

In the video, the man filming can be heard urging others to record the incident, claiming the officers were beating people without cause and even striking the woman.

Police sources said the confrontation began when Dolphin Squad members stopped the couple to check their identification cards, leading to a heated exchange.

Following the video’s circulation, Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi ordered the immediate suspension of all officers allegedly involved.

A police spokesperson confirmed that strict departmental action has been initiated against those responsible.

The IGP emphasized that any inappropriate behaviour or physical mistreatment of citizens is unacceptable. On his instructions, a formal inquiry has been launched, with SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza leading the investigation.

Authorities stated that further action will be taken based on the inquiry’s findings.
